As a long-time business owner of a small enterprise, I have weathered many storms. I’ve seen firsthand the reality where incredible technology and ideas are buried under the logic of capital and scale.
My driving force is to create a world where sincere craftsmanship is justly evaluated, rather than a culture where "profit is everything."
No matter how much search engines or AI evolve, they are not designed to automatically spotlight great ideas. Currently, promoting yourself costs far too much for the average creator.
Lessons from 18 Years of Coaching
Through 18 years of teaching swimming, I watched people overcome barriers and grow. While I haven't raised children of my own, I know the joy of supporting someone’s challenge and believing in their potential.
I believe 3DVenue will be a tool that serves those who dare to challenge themselves.
Why "MIT License"?
In an increasingly unstable world, I wondered what I, a veteran engineer, could contribute.
Sharing, Not Monopolizing: I want good ideas to be used worldwide to reduce someone else's burden.
A Wish for Peace: I want an environment where the next generation spends their energy on creation, not conflict.
To create a "cycle of goodwill" that is difficult for large corporations, I released this system as open source.
The First Step
Recently, a sports organization expressed interest, asking if it could be used to showcase participating teams during matches.
It made me realize that different people see different possibilities in what I've built. When my creation connects with someone else's vision, I feel the true significance of this work.
Some might ask, "What can you really do?" Still, doing something is far better than doing nothing.
I continue to write code in the hope that the world becomes a slightly more peaceful and warmer place.
Greeting
Message to Visitors
Hello, and thank you for reaching this page!
I am a veteran web system engineer (65 years old) who has spent decades quietly writing code behind the scenes of the flashy internet.
Since the dawn of the web, I’ve self-taught languages like Perl, ASP, Java, AppleScript, VB, C++, PHP, and more. I’ve handled HTML, CSS, and Javascript... all handwritten.
Some of the programs I wrote 30 years ago are still running miraculously without trouble. I believe this is thanks to my commitment to simple, lightweight, and clean coding—a philosophy I still maintain today.
My Reality and the World's Reality
As I get older, handwriting everything can be tough, but I now use AI as a partner to help me recall complex formulas while I focus on the logic.
The inspiration for 3DVenue came from seeing many entrepreneurs struggle. They start businesses with great intentions and technology, only to fold in heartbreak because no one ever sees their work.
SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) have few chances to be known by the world.
With banks hesitant to lend and search engines becoming commercialized with ads and SEO-driven AI, profit-first logic dominates.
I wanted to find a way—a mechanism—to expand business opportunities for as many people as possible.
What Was Lost and Born During the Pandemic
The pandemic hit, followed by the rapid spread of AI.
Work temporarily vanished, and many CMS services were born.
Realizing our industry might eventually be replaced by AI-generated sites, I began exploring other fields—making music and researching new tech—until I discovered the Metaverse and "Cluster."
I used to think 3D was only for games, but experiencing virtual space firsthand convinced me of its potential. I studied Unity and Blender for six months to create content for Cluster.
I then realized that WebGL could create 3D spaces on websites via Unity, but the real shock was discovering I could handle WebGL directly using Three.js (JavaScript) without Unity.
Once I realized that, my engineer’s soul was hooked.
Around that time, I was asked by the director of the Cup Noodle Museum to reconstruct the original shop of "Chigusa" (a historic jazz cafe in Yokohama) in virtual space using only old photographs. I successfully brought that space back to life.
The Metaverse Boom and Its Aftermath
Recently, there’s news of major Metaverse projects shutting down.
In my opinion, many tried to expand too quickly. If they had worked steadily, they would still be growing.
It’s not that the popularity dropped; it’s the result of trying to monopolize the market and create exclusive systems.
Engineers who can handle Three.js are still a minority. While new tech will emerge, I’ve seen 3D work steadily increase, such as developing exhibition booth simulators.
While building realistic spaces is high-barrier for many, I believe AI will eventually make this field more active.
The Reality of Exhibitions
I remember a bitter experience from my corporate days. We spent over 1 million yen to exhibit, stood for three days, and only had a handful of visitors. Many SME owners likely share this pain. These systems are often built for wealthy corporations.
In contrast, events like Comiket draw massive crowds to individual creators. There is a power in community.
I realized this "exhibition mechanism" could be used for promotion.
If companies in the same category pool their resources and use web advertising together, they gain massive reach that one company couldn't afford alone. That is the philosophy behind 3DVenue Open Source. If 100 companies contribute, you have the advertising power of 1 million yen instead of 10,000.
Evolution of the Project
Initially, I planned to build 3D booths, but realized companies already have detailed websites. All they need is guidance *to* their site. A simple mechanism is best. That’s how this MIT version was born. Today, you can use AI to generate beautiful 3D spaces in three days if you have the right prompts.
I decided to stop bundling booth creation with the venue. Bundling limits participation. 3DVenue is simple, lightweight, and free for commercial use. Anyone with basic knowledge can customize it like a standard website. You can even let AI build it for you.
Lessons from My 93-Year-Old Father
My father is 93. Watching him, I learn that "living" means constantly carving something new into yourself.
Younger engineers might think, "The old guard should retire."
Certainly, we will eventually step aside. But we won't just vanish. We want to leave behind the "handwritten wisdom" and "righteous indignation" we've gathered over 30 years as weapons for anyone to use.
In the end, simple things without waste are the most beautiful and lasting.
Like how you crave plain white rice after eating fried rice every day.
Making 3DVenue open source is my way of passing the baton. Use this system to create a world more beautiful and interesting than I can imagine.
Now, let's see what you create with the seeds this "old soldier" has sown. I look forward to it.
